quotation #2

“You can, Tally. You must. Think of it as an adventure.”

I choose this quote because I think that it is a good example of what is going to happen in the book. This is what Tally is going to be doing for the next part of the book. I think that this shows how bent the uglies are on becoming pretty. It shows that the government has completed their mission on making everybody wanting to become pretty so bad that they will do anything. She has convinced Tally to distroy the smoke just so that she can be pretty. They think of becoming pretty as something that they have to do. It seems almost that the uglies build their entire life around becoming pretty. No matter what they must do to achieve this goal.

Text to text. I relate this to the book Lord of the Rings Return of the King. In this book Frodo is the main character who has a ring that he is to destroy, because it is the cause for all evil in the world. But if he wears this ring he is granted powers and because of this he doesn't want to destroy the ring. This book trilogy is about Frodo's "adventure" to destroy the ring. This is like tally in the Uglies because she has the power to destroy the smoke but she doesn't want to because having it grants her with friends.
Text to World. This is a quote that represents something that people must do almost every day of their lives. There are a lot of challenges that people face and it lakes them just that much easier to think of them as an adventure or a game. It is what makes life enjoyable. Without thing of life as an adventure it can become very boring.
Text to self. Text to self is closely related to text to world. Whenever there is something that I have to do I will think of it as a game or an adventure. Anything from doing homework to mowing the law I will try to make a game out of it. A game makes chores more fun, and the more fun it is the faster the time goes by. Making me, mentally, spend less time on the boring things in life.
