newspaper article 1, written by me

It is seen everywhere. It is beauty. We see it anywhere we look. It is in billboards, movies, television commercials. Some people follow what the media has to say all of the time. They follow all of the fashion magazines and websites. These people are a perfect example of people who cannot decide for themselves what beauty is. They have to look at other people to see what the media says is beautiful. But this is not much of a problem until people see that they are different than the people that they see in the media. It lowers thousands of peoples self esteem. Having a lower self esteem means that people may be afraid to face everyday challenges such as presenting a resume to get a job. They may think that they are incapable of seeing other people. It makes it so that all that they think about is what other people think of them. They start to only worry about the way that they look. Things such as their jobs seem to become less important to them. They become distracted with the media. Distracted with what the media says is ugly. Even the people that are models are not good enough. The models that are put on billboards are photo-shopped to" look better." Nobody is "beautiful" enough for the media's standards. Beauty has become something that is created by a person, not something that people are born with. I think that this needs to change. Some people go on diets that harm them physically as well as mentally. This has a snowball effect. With each person that gets some sort of plastic surgery more people will have it performed. It this society this has become something that is regular. In the past it would have boon something that was frowned upon unless the person had a valid reason, such as something that had happened to them. This surgery means that this person is not satisfied with the way that they look.  Why is this done for something such as beauty while nothing is done to improve things such as intelligence. I think that the obsession with beauty is obscene.

I choose to write this article because I think that it shows that people are getting distracted with things that are not important. I am also panning the text. I think that it is a bad things that people of all ages are sometimes scared to face the day because they are afraid of what people will think of them. This connects with what is written in the novel because the uglies in the book think that they are ugly just because they are told they are ugly. I relates because they are both related to the low self-esteem that is created.

This does effect my view on the novel because there were some things that I did not think about as deeply as I could have. While writing this it made me think about what the point of this book was very deeply. It made me think about how the author is trying to express how he feels about what is happening in this world.
